About KKC Law
A Vernon, Connecticut, law firm providing unparalleled legal services since 1964
Structures that last are built on a strong foundation…
In 1964, longtime Vernon resident and attorney, Robert Kahan, and a young lawyer from Norwich, Solomon Kerensky, first began working together and soon after became partners. Bob and Sol began their practice in a small office in a local bank, providing a wide range of legal services to individuals and small businesses throughout Tolland County. Their commitment and skill resulted in rapid growth of the client base, and the additions of Joseph Capossela and William Breslau to the Firm’s roster. As the population of Tolland County grew, so did the Firm’s reputation for excellence. By the 1970’s, what was then named Kahan Kerensky Capossela Levine and Breslau, had become the prominent law firm east of the Connecticut River, especially in real estate, zoning, and land use matters
In the 1980’s and 1990’s, the Firm expanded its estate planning, litigation, and business practices by adding Michael Bars, William Dakin and Michael Kopsick to its partnership, along with many additional attorneys and support staff. By the start of the new millennium, the Firm had become one of the largest and most sophisticated full-service law firms in North Central and Eastern Connecticut, with clients in all four corners of the state and beyond its borders.
From these local roots, the Firm continued to grow into what is today: over a dozen attorneys and twenty paralegals and administrative staff now known as KKC. Today’s KKC is dedicated to staying on top of new developments and opportunities in the law. Our lawyers continue the Firm’s tradition of enthusiastically contributing time and treasure to local charities, as well as civic and professional associations.
The framework Bob, Sol, Joe, and Bill created has been preserved, if not improved, by the efforts of many other partners, associate attorneys and staff. Our current Management Team of Partners Michael Kopsick, Stephen Sutton, Matthew Willis and Chris Bowen acknowledge, with gratitude, the contributions of those that were instrumental in creating the Firm and maintaining its integrity for over 60 years. We are committed to be good custodians of the foundations laid by our predecessors and architects of future growth.
